He eyes me: “Where are you headed?”

I politely nod: “Home.”

He thinks he is charming: “Can I take you home?”

I shake my head: “Only I seem to know the way.”

He asks: “Is it far?”

I smirk: “For some.”

He says: “You can give me the directions.”

I disagree: “I could, but then you won’t truly appreciate it.”

He jokes: “But I could get lost trying to find it.”

I’m tickled: “It isn’t as hard as you make it.”

He is charming: “If I find it, can I stay?”

I am clever: “Can you?”

He smiles: “I want to.”

I harden: “Time will tell.”

He is worried: “What if you aren’t home when I get there?”

I say goodbye: “Home is where my heart is and I’m always home.”
